It's safe to dream (tarot + journal prompts)

Since 2013, November 18th has been such a special day for our family.

11 years ago today, under the light of the full moon in Dubai, our daughter Mia Louise entered the world.

This year, she has been more excited than ever for her birthday. She started fantasizing and telling us months ago about the details of her special day, right down to what and how she wanted the breakfast to be served. She told us how she wanted to wake up feeling like it was Christmas morning and that she wanted our family to all have matching pajamas.

There was such joy in her eyes as she imagined the day into being. But even deeper than that, there was trust. She could let herself fully go there with her dreams because she trusted that they were safe to go to.

How often do we hold ourselves back because it doesn’t feel safe to dream? How many times does your inner voice remind you to keep your feet on the ground and your head out of the clouds? Whose voice was that originally?

If you were a member of The Genius Lab, you know that I’m a huge fan of integrating the tarot into these questions. Looking at the cards can prompt you to ask the questions that need answering in your life, and also reveal how you really feel about a thing.

Take a moment, grab a tarot or oracle deck, and shuffle your cards. Ask the questions below as you shuffle, and then draw 3 cards (intuitively feel into which cards you want to pull). Lay the cards face down in front of you and just notice any body sensations, thoughts, feelings, or words that are already coming up for you. Flip the cards over and do your reading.

Please feel free to share your reading in the comments below. Indicate whether you are open to receiving feedback on your reading. If you want to comment on another person’s reading, make sure it says “open to feedback” or “I consent to receiving comments on this reading” before you add your feedback for them.

Reclaiming the Safety to Dream Spread

Card 1: What keeps me from feeling safe to dream?

Card 2: How can I nurture trust in my dreams?

Card 3: What magic awaits me if I allow myself to dream fully?

If you are someone who likes journal prompts, here are a few on this topic:

What does “safe dreaming” feel like in my body?

What stories have I internalized about dreams and “reality”?

What is the first small step I can take to embody this energy now?

Sending you all the love that comes along with being an 11-year old with all of your dreams coming true!
